Ideally located just minutes from the Illinois border, Powers Lake is the furthest south of the Lake Country lakes and is one of the closest to Chicago. With a maximum depth of just 33 feet, Powers Lake is a 451-acre recreational lake featuring beaches, public boat landings, and excellent fishing. It is also home to waterfront restaurants, golf courses, and gorgeous lakeside parks. For those who are looking for a less touristy alternative to nearby Geneva Lake, Powers Lake is the place to be.

The lake is considered one of the area’s best fishing lakes, with notable species such as smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye. Powers Lake is also perfect for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts thanks to its centralized location near state forests and public lands.
Compared to nearby Geneva Lake, Powers Lake has a more laid-back, small-town atmosphere. Located just off Highway 12, it only takes minutes to get to Genoa City or Lake Geneva. The lake also has many beautiful lakefront properties, making it an ideal retreat from the big city.
