Powers Lake

 

 

Of the many lakefront communities in southeastern Wisconsin, Powers Lake is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful. Ideally located just minutes from the Illinois border, Powers Lake is the furthest south of the Lake Country lakes and is one of the closest to Chicago. With a maximum depth of just 33 feet, Powers Lake is a 451-acre recreational lake featuring beaches, public boat landings, and excellent fishing. It is also home to waterfront restaurants, golf courses, and gorgeous lakeside parks. For those who are looking for a less touristy alternative to nearby Geneva Lake, Powers Lake is the place to be.

 

Located in Kenosha and Walworth Counties, Powers Lake is ideal for those who love pontooning, fishing, and other recreational sports. The lake is considered one of the area’s best fishing lakes, with notable species such as smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye. Powers Lake is also perfect for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts thanks to its centralized location near state forests and public lands.

Compared to nearby Geneva Lake, Powers Lake has a more laid-back, small-town atmosphere. Located just off Highway 12, it only takes minutes to get to Genoa City or Lake Geneva. The lake also has many beautiful lakefront properties, making it an ideal retreat from the big city.

 

Beyond the area’s exceptional recreational lakes and forest lands, Powers Lake has plenty of excellent bars and restaurants that are popular with the locals. The Rock Bar II, located along the western shores of Powers Lake, is one of the area’s best waterfront bars. With excellent bloody marys, homemade pizza, and outstanding lakeside views, there’s no better place to unwind after a day out on the water.

Check out Sit N’ Bull for some of the area’s best burgers and Friday Night Fish Fry. Located just across the lake, Sit N’ Bull has excellent food and drinks and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Another popular restaurant near Powers Lake is Annex, known for hosting special events, such as karaoke night.

For those who love the serenity of the golf course, check out Nippersink Golf. Ideally located near Powers Lake, Nippersink Golf is known for its scenic golf course, beautiful dining room, and excellent food.

 

For many, Powers Lake is a playground for outdoor recreation. Whether you enjoy boating, hunting, or fishing, there is something for you in Powers Lake. Lakeside Park is perfect for those who enjoy being out on the water, featuring a public beach and picnic areas. Whether you own a boat or rent one, nothing is more important than getting your boat out on the water. Powers Lake Boat Launch, located along the eastern banks of Powers Lake, is your go-to destination for getting your boat in and out of the water. The boat launch also features a nearby park and picnic area.

For those who enjoy hunting and shooting, there is no better place to be than Powers Lake Sportsmans Club. Located just north of the lake, Powers Lake Sportsman Club is a shooting club where you can practice skeet shooting and other types of shooting. They even host raffles and other special events.

For those who enjoy the great outdoors, check out New Munster Wildlife Area. Set on over 1,226 acres of land, New Munster Wildlife Area is a nature preserve for local birds and wildlife. It is also a popular destination for hiking and hunting.
